The Freedom Riders challenged segregation by riding interstate buses in the South in mixed racial groups. The Freedom Rides, beginning in 1961, and the violent reactions they provoked, bolstered the credibility of the American Civil Rights Movement. In honor of the upcoming Martin Luther King Day, we will look at this important part of American history. Discussion following film moderated by Deacon Art Miller. Registration required at 860-658-7663 x4 or simsburylibrary.info. Free and open to all.
