De-Stressing the Wedding Preparation!
Congratulations Bride-to-Be! You have found true love, said ‘yes’ to his proposal and are getting ready for the Big Day. Planning your wedding is such an exciting time but it can also be quite stressful. Stress, which is how we react to our environment, can be caused by both positive and
negative life events. We all know that stress can wreak havoc on your life when it is not managed. It can interfere with sleep, your skin, your mood, your eating habits (causing you to lose or gain weight, which equates to even more fittings!). Stress can also cloud your mind, affecting your ability to think clearly. Aside from eating a balanced diet, and getting enough sleep and exercise, what’s a girl to do? There are several things you can do to minimize your stress levels during the planning process, while leaving more room for all of the joy that surrounds you.
Be kind to yourself. Know that at any given time, you are doing the best you can. No one is perfect, except maybe those fairy tale princesses.
Take some time to understand what it is you and your husband-to-be really want before family members begin offering their advice. Making lists of “Need to Have,” “Nice to Have,” and “Absolutely No Way” can be very helpful and will minimize any regrets in the long run. These lists will come in handy when you are deciding how to spend your budget.
Invest in a wedding planning guide. They provide valuable guidance on when you should tackle each task. They also include useful features such as “to do” lists, a calendar, helpful planning tips and often have a pocket to hold receipts. Strategic planning isn’t just for the football field.
Keep all of your wedding information in one place. Too often we spend time searching for papers scattered about the house, or worse, between our house, our parents’ house, etc. The panic that can arise from looking for a dry cleaning receipt or a catering menu can be completely eliminated if your know where to look.
Do take care of your body. Because we hold stress in our bodies, we need to find ways to GET IT OUT! Take a walk, or a yoga class, or get a massage. Try to eat a balanced diet, and take care of your skin. How many times have you had a long day, only to realize that your feet are killing you, yet you never noticed when they started to bother you during the day? Our minds get so busy with the shoulds and to-dos that we neglect to listen to our bodies.
Relax your mind. Take a few quiet moments to breathe and notice how you are feeling. If you can become aware of how you react when you feel stressed, then you will be better able to recognize the signals of a much needed break. Take some time every day, even if it is in the shower, to think of a few things you are grateful for. By focusing on the positives in your life, you will be able to handle any challenges that come your way. I am also a huge fan of the benefits of meditation, probably because I lead guided meditation groups and have seen the benefits for my students and myself. Quieting your mind is a great gift to give yourself.
Feed your passion. Do something you love. It could be as simple as listening to music, taking an art or dance class, or digging in the garden.
Keep your sense of humor. Laughter is known to have a tremendous healing effect. Sometimes we take ourselves too seriously. Try to appreciate all of the quirky things you do – it’s part of what makes you uniquely you, and all of us human.
Never underestimate the power of friendship. No one can pick you up like your friends. Too often when we get busy, spending time with our friends is the first thing to go. Be there for each other.

Picture Perfect Skin
Luminous skin is a must for any glowing bride. Many brides-to-be focus on the makeup the day of the wedding, but in fact, to attain that healthy glow the process should begin weeks in advance. Organic and nutrient-dense treatments are essential in preparing the skin for both in person and for an on-camera, show-stopping complexion. Mod.skin labs, an eco luxury skin care collection, suggests the following simple yet highly effective protocol:
Begin the following ritual three weeks before your big day:
1. Maintain a clean palate by utilizing a daily detergent-free cleanser to effectively remove debris and makeup. mod.skin suggests: Daily reVital Cleanser-WithWhite Grape and Himalayan Cedarwood.
2. Exfoliation is key for skin vibrance & clarity. A superbly effective, yet curiously gentle, scrub from mod.skin, evicts unwanted debris using powerful Rice enzymes, comforting shea butter, and gentle buffing jojoba beads. Gentle exfoliation, should be done 3-4 times a week to increase cellular renewal and achieve bright glowing skin. mod.skin suggests: The Samurai Scrub- 3-4 X week.
3. Excellent hydration helps to infuse skin with vital nutrients & water. mod.skin suggests:Weightless Lotion daily- for combo/oily skin. Crème Nutrifunctional #1 daily- for normal/dry skin.
SUPER-BRIDE TIP:
On the big day, as a primer before makeup and color, use The Face Sculpt Serum Excalibur on clean skin. This instantly firming serum cools skin while firming and brightening dull, tired and stressed skin. A must have for all brides!
