Examples of acceptable household hazardous wastes include compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), solvents, pesticides, cleaners, mercury containing products, gasoline, oil-based paint and batteries.   The following materials will not be accepted at the collection: latex paint, tires, medical waste, compressed gas cylinders, radioactive waste, household garbage, motor oil, smoke detectors, ammunition, and explosives.  Please collect these products in disposable but sturdy boxes or bins; store in a cool, dry place away from children and pets, and transport it to the collection in the trunk of your car. Special conditions apply for asbestos, lead paint chips, sand blasting grit, and any products stored in 55-gallon drums and the MDC HazWaste Coordinator must give prior approval for the waste to be brought to an MDC collection. If permission is not received, the MDC Coordinator has the right to reject this material.
